EDISON, N.J. — Sophomore center Greta Tadday of the Long Island University women's water polo team received Preseason All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference honors, while the Sharks were selected to finish fourth in the MAAC Preseason poll, the conference announced on Monday.
"We're also incredibly proud of Greta for earning preseason All-MAAC honors," Allison said. "To receive that recognition as a sophomore speaks volumes about her work ethic and impact. She's a true leader for our team and an outstanding person both in and out of the pool."
Tadday, a native of Krefeld, Germany, enters the 2026 season after a strong first year with the Sharks last spring. The sophomore center started all 30 games for LIU, totaling 81 goals, nine assists, 90 total points, 18 steals, 73 drawn exclusions, and six blocks in 2025. Tadday also received MAAC Rookie of the Week honors last April.
Joining Tadday on the Preseason All-MAAC list is Martina Bonet Saez of La Salle University, Anita Radaelli of Marist University, Catherine Williamson of Siena University, Riley Hull of Villanova University, and Magali Ogg and Francesca Sena of Wagner College.
LIU received 54 points in the MAAC Preseason Poll, two points shy of Villanova for third place in the conference. Wagner led the poll with 80 points and eight first-place votes, while Marist was second with one first-place vote. Following LIU was Iona University, La Salle, Mount St. Mary's, Siena, and VMI.
"Being selected fourth in the preseason poll is an exciting way to head into the season and a great reflection of the work our program is building toward," Allison said. "With many key players graduating last year, we return just five players and welcome twelve new faces, making this a season focused on growth, development, and laying the foundation for our future. We have a strong group this year that's eager to put in the work and continue building together.
The Sharks return five members of the 2025 team, including Tadday, senior Samantha Boothe, sophomore Olivia Booth, sophomore Maci Rippo, and sophomore Victoria Feliciano.
