MEET FINLEY
Finley the Shark is the sharp-toothed, yet lovable mascot of Long Island University! He proudly spreads Shark Nation Spirit at LIU Athletics and LIU events.
Finley emerged as the official LIU mascot in 2021, soon after the unification of LIU Athletics across all campuses in 2019. He has been a rising star since swimming onto the scene—including a finalist nomination for the Best Mascot contest in the Long Island Press Best of Long Island 2023. Finley became a national champion in January 2023 in the Open Spirit Game Day division at the UCA/UDA national championship. He later claimed another national title in August 2023, winning the First Place Overall Mascot Award at the UCA/UDA camp.
Finley loves to cheer on the LIU Sharks on the field, around campus, and in the greater community. If you catch him around campus, be sure to say, “Fins Up, Finley!”
