Notes on the Sharks
LIU is looking to bounce back from a season-opening 4-0 loss to Longwood on Saturday, August 31st. Despite an offensive surge, led by junior forward Sammy Bell who finished with a team-high 11 shots, the Longwood goalkeeper stood tall in net to complete the shut out. Bell also finished the game with a team-high eight shots on goal, while freshman midfielder Femke De Goeji finished with a shot on goal. Freshman defender Jonna Klein-Holte had three shots, and freshman midfielder Alyssa Hunt had one shot.

On the defensive end, the Sharks only allowed one penalty corner throughout the entire game, which was successfully killed. Junior goalkeeper Rachel Vellis had two saves in the season opener, and the defense did not allow the Lancers to take a shot in the entire fourth quarter.

Scouting the Rams
The Virginia Commonwealth University Rams come into the matchup with a 0-1 record, coming off a 2-1 season opening loss at Lafayette. Maite Sturm scored the Rams' lone goal for her first tally of the season, which was assisted by Litiana Field. The Rams controlled the ball in the offensive end for most of the fourth quarter, outshooting the Leopards 6-1, but were unable to find the back of the net. Sophomore goalkeeper Sasha Elliott registered eight saves in the Rams' season opener.

Scouting the Tribe
No. 25 William & Mary opened up its season with a hard-fought battle against No. 3 Duke, but fell 4-0 to the Blue Devils. Sophomore Cara Menges took a pair of shots and freshman Sally Snead had a shot on goal. Junior Ella Donahue also had a shot on goal that was stopped by the Duke goalkeeper. Senior defender Cassidy Goodwin made a defensive save mid-air off the goal line for her seventh career defensive save, which is tied for 13th all time at W&M. Sophomore goalkeeper Kimi Jones had three saves against the Blue Devils.
