BROOKVILLE, N.Y.- The Long Island University field hockey team is set for a two-game weekend, first hosting Merrimack in a Northeast Conference matchup on Friday, October 18 followed by a non-conference matchup at local rival Hofstra on Saturday, October 19.

NOTES ON THE SHARKS
The Sharks opened up NEC play last weekend with two conference games. LIU defeated Wagner University, 2-1 last Friday, and are looking to bounce back from a tough 2-1 loss at Rider.
Kaitlyn Olton scored the game winning goal on Friday against the Seahawks. She leads the team with six goals and 12 points, and was named NEC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Taylor Brodsky scored her first goal of the season on Friday against Wagner.
Rachel Vellis had three saves in goal against the Seahawks, and had seven saves against the Broncs to finish with 10 saves last weekend.
Sammy Bell scored the Sharks' lone goal against the Broncs, but it wouldn't be enough for LIU to complete a comeback.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
In its first season at the Division I level, the Merrimack College Warriors enter Friday's matchup with a 2-10 overall record and a 1-2 NEC record. The Warriors are coming off a 4-0 loss at Sacred Heart last weekend. Goalkeeper Katharina Ohmen played a majority of the game, and finished with 11 saves. She is fifth-all time on Merrimack's single-season saves with 138 this season. Catherine Henaire and Colleen Ellis both have a team-high two goals this season. Henaire also has an assist for a team-best five points this season.

SCOUTING THE PRIDE
The Hofstra University Pride come into the Saturday afternoon matchup with a 5-8 overall record. The Pride are looking to bounce back from a 4-0 loss against James Madison University. Goalkeeper Merlijn van der Vegt recorded nine saves against the Dukes. She now has 69 saves this season and has a 0.734 save percentage. Cami Larsson finished the day with two shots for the Pride. She leads the team with seven goals and 16 points this season.

The Sharks return home to host Sacred Heart for its final home game of the regular season on Friday, October 25. Game time against the Pioneers is slated for 3:00 p.m.
