LIU Men’s Golf Team Receives Academic Recognition from GCAA

Sharks posted a 3.66 team GPA in 2024-2025

NORMAN, Okla. - The Long Island University men's golf team received Presidents Special Recognition as the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the recipients of the 2024-2025 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Awards on Monday. LIU was one of 75 programs in NCAA Division I and just 129 programs across six collegiate divisions to receive the honor.

Teams that received Presidents Special Recognition posted a team GPA of 3.5 or higher. The LIU men recorded a team GPA of 3.66 during the 2024-2025 academic year.

On the course, the Sharks posted a runner-up finish at the NEC Championship and swept the NEC's major postseason awards (Arjun Singh Bhatia, Golfer of the Year; Tom Winn, Rookie of the Year; Ben Belfield, Coach of the Year). The Sharks placed three golfers on the NEC's first-team list becoming the first program to achieve the feat in nine years (Singh Bhatia, Marcelo Mexsen, Taimur Malik).
