The LIU Director of Golf Ben Belfield is entering his sixth season with the golf program.
Coach Belfield has been named NEC Coach of the Year twice in the span of three years (2021-2024).
Belfield has brought a wealth of coaching experience and success to Brookville, most recently serving as the head coach at Oral Roberts University. Throughout his eight-year coaching career, Belfield has helped mentor programs to outstanding individual, team, and academic success. Under his tutelage, student-athletes have garnered 19 Scholar/Academic All-Americans, 13 individual victories, 12 team victories, eight All-Americans, three conference players of the year, two team conference championships, one individual conference champion, and one NCAA regional qualifier.

Upon graduating from Northwood University with a degree in business management, Belfield turned professional and played on mini tours in the United States and Europe. During that time, Belfield advanced through local qualifying for the U.S. Open and also competed in several Monday qualifiers on the PGA TOUR. He earned several top-five finishes on the Tamsel Tour and Players Tour in the United Kingdom.

His coaching career began at his alma mater in Spring 2011 when Northwood named him the head men’s and women’s golf coach. Under his guidance, Northwood jumped into the top-15 in both men’s and women’s golf in the NAIA/Golfstat rankings. Northwood’s success led to the Red River Conference naming Belfield its Coach of the Year twice.

Following a stint as an assistant coach at the University of Denver, Belfield became an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s golf programs at Oral Roberts in 2014. Under his guidance the Golden Eagles captures four team tournament titles, six individual tournament titles, one conference player of the year and one NCAA regional qualifier in Cody Burrows this past season.

A native of Manchester, England, Belfield currently resides in Brooklyn with his wife Kezia and sons Issac and Harrison.
