BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - Junior Yasmeen Muhammad of the Long Island University women's volleyball team was recognized as the NEC/Molten Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday, while sophomore Miabella Musignac received her third NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.
Both student-athletes were also named NEC Prime Performers; Muhammad for the third time this fall, while Musignac received her fifth.
Muhammad finished Saturday's 3-2 road win at Saint Francis University with 22 kills, tying her career-high, and totaled 43 kills in three matches last week. The Shoreline, Washington native also ended the week with a .514 hitting percentage, 11 total blocks and one dig.
As of Tuesday, the junior middle blocker is ranked fifth in NCAA Division I in hitting percentage this season with .443, which also leads the NEC.
Musignac recorded a career-high 24 digs Saturday's win at Saint Francis and finished the week with 56 total digs across three matches.
The San Juan, Puerto Rico native has now recorded double-digit digs in 19 of 22 matches for the Sharks this fall.
NEC-leading LIU hosts FDU on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. The Sharks have already secured their berth in the NEC Women's Volleyball Tournament, which will be hosted later this month.
