BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Northeast Conference today announced its Institutional Academic Award and Team GPA Awards for 2023-24 with the LIU Sharks having six teams recognized, tied for the most in the conference with Wagner.

Men's cross country (3.46), swimming & diving (3.49) and tennis (3.92), along with women's lacrosse (3.65), women's swimming & diving (3.68) and tennis (3.82) earned Team GPA honors. This is the fourth-straight year men's swimming & diving has been honored, and the third-straight for men's tennis. Men's tennis also earned the highest GPA of any NEC team this past year.

The six teams honored this past season are one more than the five in 2022-23,and women's lacrosse and women's tennis were two of just six teams that won NEC championships to make the list. Only Wagner had two NEC championship teams receive Team GPA honors as well.

On June 16th, the NEC recognized 1,407 student-athletes with their 2024 Spring Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner's Honor Roll selections that featured 139 LIU Sharks across 10 different sports, 59 of which earned prestigious Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades for students with GPAs over 3.75.

The NEC's composite GPA of all student-athletes this year was 3.306, the fourth-highest in conference history.
