EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU women's ice hockey team has a new quartet of on-ice leaders for the 2023-24 season.
Sarah Rourke has been selected captain, while
Tindra Holm,
Anna Fairman and
Ceilidh Campbell have been selected alternate captains.
Rourke, a forward from Shawnigan Lake, B.C., appeared in 37 games this past season, tallying six goals and two assists. She served as an alternate captain in 2022-23 and tallied the first National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championship goal in program history.
Holm was honored at Wednesday night's Athletics Awards Ceremony at the Tilles Center as the LIU Women's Student-Athlete of the Year. A rising junior from Sweden, she was a 2023 National Women's Goalie of the Year semifinalist as well as the NEWHA Goaltender of the Year.
Fairman, a defenseman from Troy, Mich., appeared in 21 games this past season. She was the NEWHA Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 7 and represented China in the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Campbell, a defenseman/forward from Barrie, Ont., appeared in 15 games this past season. She scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Saint Michael's on Nov. 12.
LIU won the NEWHA regular-season and postseason titles and advanced to its first NCAA championship in 2022-23, in head coach
Kelly Nash's first season at the program's helm.
