Drew Dyczkowski Scores Twice to Lead Sharks past Post University

Grace Babington & Drew Dyczkowski record 3 points each, Emma Mörtl blocks 6 shots

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Long Island University women's ice hockey team (17-15-1, NEWHA 15-11-1) defeated the Post University Eagles (10-22-1, NEWHA 10-16-1) Friday afternoon 3-2. Drew Dyczkowski scored her 12th and 13th goals of the season and assisted Grace Babington's team-leading 14th goal of the season. Babington also recorded her team-leading 15th and 16th assists of the season on Dyczkowski's goals.
 
Scoring opened for the game in the first period after the Eagles went up on a power play. Scoring with 2:14 remaining in the period and going into the first intermission, 1-0 Post.
 
The Sharks didn't hesitate to tie up the game when play restarted in the second period with Dyczkowski scoring her first goal of the game only 1:38 after the puck dropped. She was assisted by Paige Vreeman and Babington.
 
About six minutes later, Babington scored her team-leading 14th goal of the season, assisted by Vreeman and Dyczkowski. The Sharks outshot the Eagles 12 to two in the second period to take the lead and head into the third period up 2-1.
 
The Sharks scored about midway through the third period with Dyczkowski netting her second of the night, assisted by Babington and Kristen Kiggen. The Eagles responded less than two minutes later, scoring the last goal of the game on a power play to finish the game, 3-2 LIU.
 
LIU out-shot Post 12 to eight in the second period and out-blocked the Eagles 21 to four throughout the game. Emma Mörtl led the Sharks with six blocks, Addison Robillard recorded four, and Dyczkowski and Sam Mathe each blocked three to help Victoria Rutnik's 19 saves to earn her tenth win of the season in net.
 
The Sharks will close out the regular season when they travel to Waterbury, Connecticut for the final game of the home-and-home series against the Eagles on Saturday, Feb. 21. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. and available to watch on YouTube.
