PLYMOUTH, Mass. - Senior forward Paige Vreeman of the Long Island University women's ice hockey team was named New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player of the Week and freshman defender Addison Robillard was named NEWHA Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. The duo helped lead the Sharks to a weekend sweep of Post University in the final games of the regular season.

This past weekend, Vreeman tallied five points, scoring three goals with two assists and two blocked shots, while recording a +6 rating. She scored all three goals in Saturday's 4-1 win, notching her first career hat trick. This is the first player of the week honor of her four-year collegiate career.

Robillard, now a two-time defensive player of the week, recorded one assist with eight blocked shots and a +5 rating. Robillard previously earned NEWHA weekly honors on Jan. 7, when she was named both defensive player of the week and rookie of the week.

Vreeman and Robillard join teammates Victoria Rutnik (goaltender of the week, Feb.2), Grace Babington (player of the week, Jan. 13), Clara Kammholz (goaltender, Jan. 7 & Sept. 30), and Emma Mörtl (defensive player, Dec. 9) as NEWHA weekly award winners this season.

The Sharks enter the postseason on a three-game winning streak, with wins in 11 of their final 14 games. LIU travels to fourth-seeded Stonehill College for the best-of-three quarterfinal series beginning on Friday evening. Puck drop of game one is scheduled for 5 p.m.
