BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Northeast Conference announced on Friday the honorees to the all-conference outdoor track and field teams, and 11 Sharks were named to all conference.
Tara Hernandez was named Most Outstanding Track Performer (sprints) at the conclusion of the NEC Championships held earlier in May.
Hernandez earned her award with her finish in the 400m hurdles at a time of 1:02.28 and by coming in clutch as the anchor in each of the two relay teams with which she competed.
Alongside Hernandez in both the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay was
Laurie Hauet,
Hachlaine Petit and
Camille Watson. That foursome came in first in both of their races, clocking in at 47.51s in the 4x100m and 3:50.33 in the 4x400m to spots each on the first-team roster.
In the 4x800m relay,
Ainhoa Brea,
Josephine Critchley,
Kelly Iocca and
Lexi Smith each grabbed a spot on first team roster when they finished in 9:36.27.
Sherene Williams took home a first team spot with her performance in the shot put event, throwing a distance of 12.86m. Also in a field event,
Faith Shaw took a second-team spot in discus throw of 39.22m.
Josephine Critchley earned a spot on the all-rookie team for her finish in the 5000m event, coming in at 18:31.83, to add to her place on the first-team roster with the 4x800m relay team.
Kelly Iocca raced her way to spots on both the first and second teams, Iocca earned one spot on the first team as part of the 4x800m relay team. For the 3000m steeplechase event that she finished in 11:25.82, she earned herself another spot on the first team. In the 5000m event, Iocca finished in 17:22.57 to take her place on the second team.
Iocca will become the first Division I woman distance runner in school history to participate in regionals when she competes on Saturday at 5:40 p.m. ET.
