Fencing Beats Powerhouse St. John’s in Big Regular Season Win

QUEENS, N.Y. – The LIU women's fencing program registered one of its biggest wins to date Sunday, as the Sharks went on the road and beat a depleted St. John's team, 16-11. The Sharks beat the Red Storm in both epee and foil 6-3, while keeping it close in sabre, 4-5.
 
Freshman Jennifer LoMastro helped lead LIU in foil as she had two wins and won one by forfeit, to finish the day 3-0. Freshman Anna Szántay went 2-1, while classmate Kristina Sarkisian was also 2-1.
 
In epee, freshman Laura Fekete went 3-0 against her Red Storm opponents, while Alina Chen, Faith Ferraro and Nicole Nicou each added a win on the day for LIU.
 
Up next, the Sharks host Sacred Heart in the Steinberg Wellness Center, Saturday, March 13 at 8:30 a.m.
