                     BROOKLYN, N.Y.—  The women's fencing team kicked off its season with an impressive 5-0 sweep over Rutgers, Stevens, Drew, Wellesley and NJIT.
 
This is the second year in a row that LIU has swept the Shark Tank Challenge at the Steinberg Wellness Center and it will look to keep momentum as the season progresses.
 
The foil group of 
Khrystyna Sarkisian, 
Anna Szántay, 
Abigail Hunt and 
Daniela Perez Leal impressed picking up a number of victories and a 9-0 sweep over Rutgers.
 
Sarkisian, Szántay, 
Nevaeh Ulibarri and 
Chejsa-Kaili Seck combined for 45 victories.
 
The Sharks will return on Sunday Nov. 5 when they travel to Madison, N.J. for the Drew Rangers Invitational.
