BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU women's fencing team had a dominant performance Saturday morning in the Steinberg Wellness Center, as the Sharks beat Sacred Heart twice, 18-9 and 15-12.
 
In the first bout of the day, the epee squad led the way, going 9-0 against the Pioneers. Freshman 
Nicole Nicou went 3-0, freshman 
Laura Fekete went 2-0, and senior 
Alina Chen went 2-0, while 
Grace Scura and 
Faith Ferraro also contributed wins.
 
Sacred Heart won foil, 5-4, but the Sharks were led by freshman 
Kristina Sarkisian, who went 3-0. And another freshman led LIU in sabre, which the Sharks won, 5-4. Broklyn native 
Chejsa-Kaili Seck went 3-0 against Sacred Heart, helping lead her squad to victory.
 
The second match of the day was closer, but LIU still managed to pull out the 15-12 win. Again, it was the epee squad that contributed the most points, beating SHU, 6-3. Fekete, Scura (2-0), Nicou (1-1) Chen and Ferraro all had wins for the Sharks.
 
In foil, LIU pulled out the 5-4 win. Freshman 
Anna Szántay went 3-0 this time around, while Sarkisian added two more wins. Sacred Heart would take the sabre battle, 5-4, but Seck was once again undefeated, 3-0.
 
Seck finished with the best record on the day for the Sharks, going 6-0. Sarkisian went 5-1, while Szántay was 4-2. Nicou finished 4-1 for the best record in epee, while Chen and Fekete both went 3-0, and Scura was 2-0.
