Women's Gymnastics Sets New Program Marks in Final Home Event of 2021

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Long Island University gymnastics team continued to grow in its inaugural season, setting several new program records during its final home event of the season. The Sharks hosted the University of New Hampshire, University of Pittsburgh, and Towson University in an Eastern Atlantic Gymnastics League quad-meet at the Pratt Recreation Center on Sunday, Feb. 28.
 
LIU finished fourth on the day, compiling a team score of 191.925. Towson earned the top score of the day at 195.175.
 
The Blue and Gold had its best overall showing of the season, setting a new program record with the 191.925 team score. LIU bested its season average in all four events, including a score of 48.275 on bars, just .075 point away from matching its previous program record set on Friday. Mara Titarsolej broke her own personal and program record on bars, earning the day's top score at 9.925. Alisson Lapp also set a new personal mark, recording a score of 9.800.
 
LIU had four scores above a 9.500 on vault and added four scores over 9.500 on balance beam, led by a personal-best 9.700 from Alana Ricketts.  
 
Titarsolej was outstanding on her floor routine to close out the competition, setting another program record with a 9.800. Lapp added a 9.675, her third score above a 9.600 on the day.  
 
LIU will return to competition on Sunday, March 7 for an EAGL matchup with Temple University beginning at 4:00 p.m.
