BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Mara Titarsolej set a new program record on bars and
Alisson Lapp matched her career high on beam as the Long Island Univerity women's gymnastics team hosted Towson University and the University of New Hampshire inside the Pratt Recreation Center on Friday, Feb. 26.
Titarsolej was masterful on the uneven bars in her LIU debut after recently being cleared by the NCAA for competition. The 9.900 is the highest individual score in any event this season by a Shark and earned her the top spot on the evening in the event. As a team, LIU bested its season-best score on the uneven bars by nearly an entire point with a score of 48.350. Three student-athletes recorded 9.700 or better, including a 9.775 from Lapp and a 9.700 from
Ella Castellanos.
The Sharks also set a new season-high on vault, recording a 48.175.
Alana Ricketts led LIU with a new personal-best score of 9.725, while
Lauren Miller and
Alyssa van Allen also set new personal-bests with a 9.700 and 9.675, respectively.
It was another strong performance for van Allen on beam, as both her and Lapp matched the LIU season-high score with a 9.800. Closing out the evening on floor exercise,
Charli Cohen notched a 9.725 and
Reagan Jones posted an identical score during her routine.
The Sharks will compete inside the Pratt Recreation Center for the final time this season on Sunday, Feb. 28 when they take on Towson, New Hampshire, and the University of Pittsburgh at 4:00 p.m.
