DURHAM, N.H. – The Long Island University gymnastics team wrapped up its weekend of competition with a matchup with the University of New Hampshire on Sunday, Feb. 21 at Lundholm Gymnasium. The Wildcats were victorious in the head-to-head battle by a 195.350-188.850 margin.
Starting the day on uneven bars,
Lauren Miller notched a 9.550 to open the day. After a solid routine from
Nika Takagi,
Alisson Lapp posted a 9.700 to help the Sharks to a 46.900. LIU recorded a nearly identical team score on vault behind a 9.575 from
Alana Ricketts and a 9.500 from
Amanda Loo.
The Blue and Gold's best event of the day came on floor when it recorded a season-best score of 48.200. All five counting scores for the Sharks came in above a 9.475, including a 9.775 from Lapp and a 9.750 from Loo. The Sharks closed out their day on the balance beam where
Katy Koopman,
Taylor Doten, and Ricketts all earned a 9.525 for their routines.
The Sharks will return to the Pratt Recreation Center on Friday, Feb. 26 for a tri-meet with Towson University and New Hampshire beginning at 6:00 p.m. Live video will be available through NEC Front Row or the NEC On the Run app on all mobile and streaming devices.
