TOWSON, Md. – The Long Island University women's gymnastics team continued its inaugural season on Friday, Feb. 19, competing in a quad meet with Towson University, University of North Carolina, and Pittsburgh University. The Sharks recorded a team score of 188.075 and finished fourth in the team standings.
The Blue and Gold opened the evening on balance beam, with
Alisson Lapp matching her program-record with a 9.800.
Alana Ricketts and
Alyssa van Allen also had strong showings, earning matching scores of 9.550. During the second rotation, LIU compiled a team score of 45.925 behind a 9.625 from
Lauren Miller and a 9.600 from
Amanda Loo.
LIU posted its best rotation of the night on vault, notching a team-score of 47.750.
Katy Koopman showed big improvement over her first routine, earning a 9.650. Miller also was impressive, posting a 9.625, while Loo and Ricketts rounded out the team scoring with a 9.525 and 9.500, respectively.
The Sharks also had an impressive performance in its final rotation, earning a score of 47.475.
Nika Takagi had an impressive bounce-back routine on bars after a fall on the balance beam, earning a score of 9.600.
Ella Castellanos added a team-best 9.625 in her only routine of the evening, with Lapp also adding a 9.600 in her routine.
