PRINCETON, N.J. – The LIU men's cross country team took part in the Princeton Invitational Saturday afternoon, one of the last tune-ups before conference championships. The Sharks came in 21st in the 8k race.
"We got out of today what we needed," head coach
Chris Sauer said. "At Lehigh we started conservative and had good performances, but spent the first half of the race working through a lot of guys that we should have started ahead of. It was good to see the men get out harder and still be able to move through the field as the race went on."
Freshman
Elyas Ayyoub led LIU's scorers, coming in 62nd with a time of 25:43.7. Junior
Jonathan Gonzalez was next, with a time of 26:31.1. Freshman
Justin Rajab (27:19.1), sophomore
Brenden Rosario (27:27.8), and sophomore
Bryan Villafuerte (27:42.9) rounded out the scorers for the Sharks.
Up next, the Sharks head to the CCSU Mini Meet October 22, for one final race before the 2021 NEC Championship Meet.
