Tyrone, Pa. — The LIU men's cross country team secured a third place finish at the NEC Championship on Saturday morning.
Finishing with an overall score of 110 points, the men's squad was led by
Walid Jarfani, who came in ninth overall in the 8k race with a time of 26:15:80 and a split of 6:32.
Robby Levy also joined his Sharks teammate in the championship's top-fourteen, slotting in at twelfth with a 26:23:70 time and 6:42 pace. Both student-athletes were subsequently named to the NEC Men's Cross Country All-Tournament Team for their efforts.
Competing in the women's 6k race, three-time NEC Rookie of the Week
Kaysie Luna was LIU's top finisher, coming in with a time of 23:32.6 and an 8:06.1 split. The freshman came in eleventh place in her respective race as the Sharks' finished sixth overall as a team. She was also named NEC Freshman of the Year, in addition to earning All-Tournament Team honors as a result of her success, as well.
