BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The LIU men's and women's cross country teams had strong performances at the Paul Short Invitational Friday. The women's team finished 13th out of 39 teams in their 6k race, while the men were 28th out of 41 teams in the college 8k.
On the women's side, senior
Kelly Iocca had a huge race, coming in fifth place in a field of over 340 runners. She finished with a final time of 21:17.8. The Sharks had two more runners in the top 100 finishers, while all of the top six came in under the 24-minute mark.
Lexi Smith came in 30th overall, with a time of 22:02.5, while freshman
Josephine Critchley came in at 74 with a time of 22:44.6.
Anita Mikowski (23:37.2),
Emily Ginty (23:45.5) and
Ainhoa Brea (23:53.6) round out the top finishers for LIU.
On the men's side, freshman
Elyas Ayyoub came in seventh overall in a field of 340, with a time of 24:57.5.
Many Sharks set new PRs on a challenging course Friday. LIU's scorers were:
Jonathan Gonzalez (26:28.5),
Justin Rajab (26:53.5),
Aiden Haughian (27:17.6),
Bryan Villafuerte (27:22.6) and
Lucas Fernandez (27:38.5).
