ROCKWAY, N.J. – The Long Island University bowling team finished the second day of competition at the Caldwell Cougar Classic Saturday, going 1-3 in traditional play, with a total pinfall of 4,474. With Friday's totals, they are now 5-4 this weekend, and in sixth place in the standings heading into the final day.
The Sharks started their day with their strongest performance of the weekend, crushing Caldwell, 997-825. Four different LIU bowlers were over 200 in the match, led by
Patricia Kelly's 243.
Jennifer Roback had 213, while
Brittany Lucci had a 202, and
Tyler Karpinecz had a 200.
LIU dropped the next match to Adelphi by just eight pins, 871-879. And then the Sharks suffered a six-pin loss to Molloy, 897-903.
Kellie Frain led LIU in the match with a 201. The Sharks bowled an 863 against the bye, and capped the day with a loss to Sacred Heart, 846-891.
Rhianna Smith led the Sharks with a 238 in the match.
Action for the weekend wraps up Sunday. The Sharks will take part in a traditional match, followed by two best-of-7 baker matches.
