Finn Drysdale was named Men's Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet and freshman
Mario Rodriguez Poulsen was named Men's Rookie of the Meet as the Long Island University swimming team claimed four more conference titles and set multiple records on the final day of the 2026 NEC Swimming and Diving Championships.
Drysdale repeated as swimmer of the meet after winning his second championship of the week, posting an NEC-record time of 15:35.80 in 1650-yard freestyle. Earlier in the week, Drysdale claimed the conference crown in the 500 free.
Rodriguez Poulsen claimed his second conference championship of the week as well, tying for gold with teammate
Emilio Garcia in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 44.49.Â
Léandre Renault finished third (44.61) giving the Sharks their second podium sweep in a freestyle race at the meet.
In the 200-yard breaststroke,
Polat Tasbasi won gold for LIU, clocking a time of 1:57.34, setting a new school record and beating the previous NEC record by more than 1.5 seconds.
In the final men's event of the four-day championship, the relay team of Poulsen, Renault, Garcia, and Tasbasi, took the NEC title in the 400 free relay with a conference-record time of 2:56.63.
The LIU men finished in fourth place in the team competition with a total score of 576.
On the women's side, senior
Anapaula Gomez Janeiro earned her first career medal in her final collegiate race, taking silver in the 1650 free with a time of 17:43.21.
As a team, the LIU women placed fifth with a score of 334.
In total, the LIU swimming program led by head coach
Jon Pepaj finished the NEC championships with nine individual event titles.
