GENEVA, Ohio – Sophomore
Finn Drysdale and the Long Island University men's 200-yard freestyle relay team won two more conference titles for the Sharks in the second day of competition for the NEC Championships Wednesday night. Drysdale won the men's 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 4:28.26, he previously set the NEC meet record (4:24.75) in the event last February. The men's 200-yard freestyle relay, consisting of
Mario Rodriguez Poulsen, Léandre Renault,
Emilio Garcia, and
Polat Tasbasi took first place for the second year in a row with a time of 1:20.72.
Adding to the podium finishes for the Sharks, Garcia set a school-record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:49.40 to take the second-place medal for the event.
Rodriguez Poulsen also finished in second place in the men's 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 20.32.

Janne Niederste-Hollenberg,
Liene Vientiesa, and
Gabriela Novais Lima claimed the first podium finish for the LIU women in the championships so far, taking third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.56
The Sharks currently hold fourth place with a team score of 210 for the men and moved up to fifth place with a team score of 116 for the women after day two of competition.
The NEC Championships continue on Thursday with events 15 through 27; the 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard individual medley, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 1-meter diving, and 400-yard medley relay events.
