Brookville, N.Y. – The LIU men's & women's track & field teams are set to begin their 2026 outdoor seasons on Friday, March 20 at the Black & Gold Invitational.
Currently in the midst of indoor season, the Sharks have had plenty of athletes rise to the occasion thus far.
Hasnae Goulamzi is already a two-time NEC Track Athlete of the Week, and set a new school record for the Women's 3000 meter run at the Gotham Cup with a time of 9:43.46.
Sonjay Baylor-Reeves has also won NEC Rookie of the Week twice, and
Brian Masai (Track Athlete of the Week),
Walid Jarfani (Athlete of the Week), and
Jayden Curry (NEC Rookie of the Week) have all already taken home weekly honors as well.
After looking to finish their indoor season strong, LIU will look ahead to its outdoor season, which includes the NEC Championship on May 2nd and 3rd. Last season, the Sharks found success at the NEC Championship, finishing third in the men's competition (100 points) and seventh in women's competition (47 points).
