Staten Island, N.Y. – Hasnae Goulamzi set a new NEC record for the Women's 3000 Meter Run at day one of the NEC Championships on Sunday.
Goulamzi clocked in with a time of 9:27.92, with the new record securing a first place finish in the race. Her prowess helped the LIU women's track and field team claim the top spot (28 points) in the NEC Championships rankings following day one.
Reigning NEC Women's Rookie of the Week
Sonjay Baylor-Reeves also secured first place in the Women's Shot Put with a mark of 13.73m, with Sharks teammate
Abigail Jefferies closely behind her in second place with a mark of 12.33m.
On the men's side,
Jayden Curry emerged with a top three finish of his own for LIU, with a 2.00m mark in the Men's High Jump.
The Sharks will continue competing in the NEC Championships on Monday, February 16.
