GENEVA, Ohio – The Long Island University men's swimming team claimed three conference titles on day two of the Northeast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. Thursday's strong performance moved the men into third place in the team standings with a score of 214, while the LIU women's team also improved one spot to fifth place with a score of 147.

Finn Drysdale took the NEC title in the 500-yard freestyle with a conference and school-record time of 4:24.75. Maks Wozny also notched a podium finish in the same race taking third place (4:36.86).

In the 50 freestyle, Alejandro Pascual Del Cid won the conference championship swimming in 20.23 seconds. It was the first of two championships on the day for Pascual Del Cid, who anchored the relay team of Fabrizio Infante, Emilio Garcia, and Marcelo Chauvet that won gold in the 200-freestyle relay (1:21.63).

Dani Chocano Fernandez also recorded a podium finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:20.47 to take second place.

On the women's side, the Sharks just missed the podium in multiple races but posted a pair of season-best marks. In the 200-yard individual medley, Allie Bashor finished fourth with a new personal-record time of 2:05.51. Laura Garcia Marin also finished fourth in the 500 freestyle with a season-best time of 5:01.19

"We are the smallest team in the conference by a lot," said head coach Jon Pepaj. "But we came here with the mentality of winning as many events as possible and the boys are taking care of that. We're ready for day three!"

Through two days of competition and 15 total events, Howard University continues to lead the men's competition (326), while Central Connecticut State University has strengthened its position atop the women's standings (379.5).

The NEC Championships continue on Friday with day three of the four-day competition.
