BROOKVILLE, N.Y.— Gui Medeiros graduated during Friday's LIU commencement on the Post campus.
On Tuesday, Medeiros and three other LIU tennis student-athletes received Academic All-District recognition from College Sports Communicators.
Medeiros joined men's tennis teammates
Ales D'Anna and
Philip Hilble and women's tennis'
Victoria Erechtchenko in receiving the academic honor.
Erechtchenko's 2022-23 season ended Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Championship. Playing first singles, she won the first set against reigning ITA Atlantic Regional singles champion Julia Adams of Virginia. The match then was halted because the Cavaliers had completed the 4-0 win.
Erechtchenko, a senior, earned the Academic All-District honor in part because of a 3.94 cumulative GPA as a mathematics major. She was the NEC Tournament MVP and a first-team All-NEC selection.
D'Anna, a sophomore, has a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in business administration. He was selected second-team All-NEC.
Hilble, also a sophomore, has a 3.86 GPA as a finance major. He handled first singles for the Sharks this past season and was a first-team All-NEC pick.
