BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — A series win against Central Connecticut State has landed a pair of LIU softball players top weekly conference honors.
Lindsey Cowans is the NEC Pitcher of the Week, while
Mari Narvaiz is the NEC Co-Rookie of Week.
Cowans, a sophomore right-hander from Camarillo, Calif., tossed a combined 10 scoreless innings while striking out 11 in two appearances against the Blue Devils.
Narvaiz, a freshman second baseman from Albuquerque, N.M., produced her first career two-homer game and drove in a career-high five runs in a 9-0, five-inning win in Sunday's series opener against Central Connecticut State.
Additionally, Cowans and Narvaiz were joined by teammate
Maya Avila as NEC Prime Performers.
The Sharks (19-17, 6-3 NEC) next open a three-game series with a doubleheader on Friday at Wagner.
