EUGENE, Ore. — LIU alum Brendon Rodney has earned gold at the World Athletics Championships.
Rodney and Canadian teammates Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake and André De Grasse posted a time of 37.48 in the 4x100m relay at Haywood Field at the University of Oregon on Saturday.
The time set a Canadian record and marked the fastest in the world this season.
It marked Canada's first gold medal in the event at the World Championships since 1997.
Rodney ran the third leg.
Rodney continues to own LIU records in the 100m dash (10.27) and 200m dash (19.96). He also established program records in the 4x100m (39.40 in 2015) and 4x400m (3:04.58 in 2015).
He is a two-time Olympic medalist in the 4x100, earning bronze in 2016 and silver in 2020.
He also captured the Canadian national championship in the 200m in 2016. His time of 19.96 defeated Grasse and Brown.
