HARRISBURG, Pa. — The LIU equestrian team returned home from their first-ever nationals appearance with a lofty distinction: having finished fourth in the nation.
On Day 1 at nationals,
Anna Perlow set the tone for the Sharks with a fifth-place finish in individual open-over fences.
Jackie Davis then earned ninth in individual intermediate over fences. And
Sophia Mirando was LIU's first team limit over fences rider at nationals, placing seventh to earn three points.
Sam Beck and
Kara Bromschwig rode head-to-head in individual intermediate flat, with Bromschwig finishing first in the nation.
Shelby McKie collected four points with a sixth-place finish in the team limit flat.
Juliana Lingner, riding individually in novice, finished fifth, while
Jackie Davis had another great ride in open flat on Maverick.
The opening day concluded with Julianna Tag having a great ride for the team intermediate flat on Hennessy.
On Day 2,
Julia Bonvino won first place in team intermediate over fences, earning 10 points.
Next, Jenn Rubio had a great ride in introductory flat for the team on Ancho.
Sarah Stayton brought the Sharks home by finishing fifth and earning five points for the team in novice.
On the final day,
Mackenzie Ashe won first place in alumni over-fences.
Next, Perlow took first in team open over fences, earning 10 points for the team.
Lastly, LIU had Bromschwig in team open flat with a ninth-place finish for a point.
The nationals debut came after the Sharks won zones.
