MILL SPRING, N.C. - Julia Bonvino of the Long Island University equestrian team participated in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championship this past weekend at Tryon International. Bonvino's appearance at the national show places her among the top 16 collegiate riders in the country in intermediate equitation on the flat.

Bonvino qualified for the national show after a second-place finish at regionals against competitors from 11 different schools, followed by a second-place finish at zones versus riders from 70 different schools.

This season marks Bonvino's third appearance at the national championship. She finished first in intermediate over fences as a freshman and as a sophomore finished fourth in the same event.

"I've known Julia for a long time and it has truly been a pleasure to be her college coach the last four years," said head coach Brooke Chasin. "Qualifying for nationals is not an easy task. I'm incredibly proud of all that she has achieved in her time at LIU."
