Box Score FLUSHING, N.Y. – The LIU women's tennis team defeated Queens College, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon. The Sharks improve to 13-3 and extend their winning streak to nine matches.
 
SHARK BITES:

• In doubles, LIU jumped out in front of Queens, taking all three matches to lead 1-0.
• Shifting to the singles play, court two saw Valentina Dancenco take down Nathalie Ulander 6-1, 7-5 for the Sharks first singles win of the day and to put the Sharks back ahead at 2-1 on the match.
• On court three, Bianca Compuesto defeated Caroline Hany-Fawzy in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 and to put LIU within one of clinching ar 3-1.
• Queens took the win on court six to trail at 3-2, but play on courts one and five put any worries to bed. Each court produced thrilling three set victories for the Sharks with Sofiya Kuzina defeating Maja Makal 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 on court one to clinch the victory for the Sharks and Phoebe Watton securing a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 decision over Mariana Ling on court five to seal the match total at 5-2.
• With the win, the Sharks went a perfect 6-0 in March during road matches with three shutouts as well.
• LIU is back in action on Sunday, March 27 at 12:30 p.m. when they welcome Coppin State to Brookville for their first home match in over a month.
