BROOKLYN, N.Y. — LIU men's and women's swimming titled Saturday's meet, "Pink the Pool," for breast cancer awareness.
The women split decisions in a win vs. Saint Peter's and a narrow defeat to Saint Francis U.
"I'm extremely pleased with both of our meets today," head coach
Bobby Smith said. "We fought a hard fight down to the last race. This team looks better every week, and we plan on keeping that pattern going throughout the season."
Overall, the Sharks outscored the Peacocks, 201-49, thanks to multiple striking final times.
They started the day by taking first in the 400-yard medley relay from the team of
Maaike Broersma,
Venna Andersen,
Ella Johnson and
Aidan Condit.
Johnson also claimed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a final time of 1:57.81.
Alycia Weber continued the success with a time of 59.54.
Andersen continues to claim impressive results in the 100-yard breaststroke and freestyle. She was the top finisher by more than two seconds.
LIU returns to action on Nov. 5 at Sacred Heart.
