BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - LIU women's soccer goalie
Kayla DeTreux was named the Northeast Conference women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday afternoon. She is the first Shark to earn league honors this season.
DeTreux made nine saves in LIU's opening contest at Fairfield. The junior did not allow a goal in the flow of play with the Sharks committing an own goal and the Stags earning a mark on a penalty kick. DeTreux completely shut down Fairfield striker Elle Scott, turning away three different goal attempts, including a point blank shot.
Up next, the Sharks open their season at home, Thursday, August 26, hosting Stony Brook.
