BROOKLYN, N.Y. – For the first time in the program's two-year history, the LIU women's water polo team has earned a spot in the national rankings. Collegiate Water Polo announced Wednesday night that the Sharks are the No. 24 team in the nation.

LIU, who had been receiving votes in the national poll, moved into the top 25 for the first time. The Sharks are 3-0 this season, having beaten Siena, No. 23 La Salle and Villanova. LIU is in the hunt to compete in the MAAC championship. Two other MAAC teams are ranked in the top 25, including No. 22 Marist and No. 25 Iona, while Villanova is receiving votes.

The Sharks will host their first ever water polo match in LIU Pool this Thursday, April 22 at 7 p.m., against VMI. The match will stream live on NEC Front Row.
