BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - LIU women's ice hockey freshman
Tindra Holm was named the national Rookie of the Month on Thursday by the
Hockey Commissioners Association.
Holm, the second NEWHA student-athlete to be recognized with monthly honors by the HCA, helped the Sharks to a 4-1 record in the month of November. Making 143 saves on the month, Holm had a .960 save percentage and a 1.18 goals-against average.
Last time out against nationally-ranked Yale, Holm made 54 saves in her team's narrow 2-1 overtime loss. She opened the month with 29 saves in two games against Post before racking up 25 saves on 26 shots against Saint Anselm on Nov. 19. The very next day, she stopped 35-of-37 in a 3-2 overtime victory over the Hawks.
Holm currently leads all first-year National Collegiate women's ice hockey goaltenders in goals-against average (1.62) and save percentage (.946). In NEWHA play, Holm has conceded just six goals in seven league games and has posted two shutouts (Oct. 29 vs. Saint Michael's; Nov. 5 vs. Post).
Holm and the Sharks own an 8-7 overall record and have not lost a NEWHA contest all season (8-0-0).
