Box Score MANCHESTER, Conn.- In a match that was back and forth and ultimately came down to a third set tiebreak, the Long Island University women's tennis team started the weekend off strong with a 4-3 victory over the University of Connecticut on Friday afternoon.

After a hard fought back and forth match, it was
Victoria Erechtchenko who clinched the match for the Sharks. Erechtchenko won the first set 6-1. After falling in the second set, 3-6, she rallied back to earn the victory over Rabines in the third set tiebreak 7-6(2).

The Huskies got off to an early lead after winning the doubles point.

Sofiya Kuzina were up 6-5 over Moreau/Bou when doubles was decided.

Dancenco earned the first team singles point for the Sharks when she defeated Bou, 6-2, 6-2. After Storkaas fell to Lai, 1-6, 2-6, Kuzina evened the match score at 2-2 when she knocked off Moreau, 7-5, 6-1.

The Huskies took the lead once more after
Kate Jorjoliani fell in the third set to Takunyaci, 6-3, 3-6, 1-6. Compuesto brought the Sharks right back in it when she defeated Cook in the third set, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Erechtchenko then earned her eighth singles win of the season to clinch the match for the Sharks.

The Sharks are back in action when they kick off spring break in the Sunshine State, taking on UNC Charlotte on Sunday, March 8. Match time at the Evert Tennis Academy is slated for 12:00 p.m.
