Box Score NEWPORT, R.I.- The Long Island University women's tennis team bounced back for a dominant 6-1 win over the University of Rhode Island on Sunday afternoon.
The Sharks opened up the day earning the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles the duo of

Sofiya Kuzina earned the first victory of the day, defeating Chartian/Ragan, 6-1.

Elinor Storkaas kept it going with a win at No. 2 singles, defeating Hurichi/Codreanu, 6-1 to clinch the doubles point. The duo of

Phoebe Watton completed the doubles sweep when they defeated Loredo/Chratian, 6-4.

In singles, the Sharks did not let up. Erechtchenko earned the first team singles point after she defeated Chratian, 6-2, 6-2. Dancenco kept it going as she defeated Rajan, 6-4, 6-1.
Kate Jorjoliani earned the third straight team singles point, and clinched the match when she knocked off Davis, 6-3, 6-3.

The Rams earned the only point of the day at No. 3 singles when Storkaas fell to Higuchi, 2-6, 4-6. Kuzina won a hard-fought battle at No. 1 singles. She won the first set 6-3, and after dropping the second set, 1-6, she bounced back to take the point, defeating Chratian, 6-3 in the third set.

Compuesto concluded the match as she defeated Loredo in the third set tie break, 7-5, 2-6, 10-0.

The Sharks are back in action on Friday, March 6 when they take on the University of Connecticut. Match time against the Huskies is set for 1:00 p.m.
