STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The LIU women's swim team fell to Wagner on the road in a dual meet Saturday afternoon, 169.5-96.5.
The Sharks opened the sprint-format meet with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay, as
Amanda Peren,
Tara Cabiling,
Jacqueline Grabowski and
Noemie Lacroix-Moreau hit the wall in 1:50.15. Up next was the 500 free, where freshman
Reyna Iwamoto took second with a time of 5:14.82.
Peren had the first win of the day for LIU, as she took the top spot in the 50 backstroke, in 27.51, while Cabiling finished second in the 50 breast, in 31.63. Grabowski had another win for LIU, as she out-touched her Seahawk opponent in the 100 butterfly, with a time of 1:00.40, just five tenths of a second faster.
Jeanne Touchette-McGowan gave LIU a second place finish in the 100 back with a time of 1:01.31, while Peren had her second win of the day in the 200 free. The junior won by nearly four seconds, with a time of 1:55.67. And Lacroix-Moreau added one more win to the pile for the Sharks when she took the top spot in the 50 butterfly, in 26.91. Junior
Kyleigh Barao wrapped up the individual events with a second place finish in the 100 IM, with a time of 1:02.65.
LIU finished the night with a second place finish in the 200 free relay, as
Lydia Amon,
Amanda San Juan, Touchette-McGowan and Grabowski came in with a time of 1:43. 14.
