Women’s Rugby Suffers Setback Against Queens

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Long Island University women's rugby team suffered a 44-12 setback against Queens University of Charlotte Saturday on the East Campus Lower Turf on the campus of James Madison University.

Sophomore Maqueisha Gillet and freshman Haniyah Baugh crossed the line for LIU while senior Janine Gelles made 1-of-2 conversion attempts.

In the first half Gillet managed to score in the 32nd minute for the Sharks on a breakaway to the outside where she cut through the defense. Gelles was successful with the conversion, but LIU went into halftime down 29-7.

Baugh would score for LIU in the second half on an eight-man pick from the back of a five meter scrum but the Royals maintained their advantage  and would prevail with a final score of 44-12.
