BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Long Island University women's swim team fell to Saint Francis University in dual meet action in LIU Pool Saturday afternoon, 160-102.
LIU had a strong individual start in the 1000 free, as freshman
Reyna Iwamoto and sophomore
Amanda San Juan went 1-2. Iwamoto touched the wall in 10:51.41, just ahead of San Juan's 10:56.30. The two beat the nearest Red Flash swimmer by over 20 seconds.
Another win for LIU came in the 100 back, when junior
Amanda Peren won in 58.58. Freshman
Tara Cabiling followed that up with a win for LIU in the 100 breaststroke, in 1:08.19. Junior
Kyleigh Barao also scored points in the event, coming in third with a time of 1:09.55. The Sharks also went 2-3 in the 200 butterfly to pick up some points, led by senior
Noemie Lacroix-Moreau (2:16.91), and Iwawmoto 's 2:19.02.
Peren also picked up a second place finish in the 100 free, with a time of 54.14, while Cabiling won her second event of the day, winning the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:27.49.
LIU went 2-3 in the 500 free as well, with
Jeanne Touchette-McGowan coming in second in 5:20.52, while sophomore
Maja Uduc came in third in 5:26.91.
Sophomore
Jacqueline Grabowski had a second place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:00.15), while Peren also took second in the 200 IM (2:13.36).
The Sharks capped the meet with a second place finish in the 400 free relay, in 3:41.19.
Up next for LIU is a road trip to take on Lafayette, Friday, November 8 at 6 p.m., before they return to Brooklyn to host Army, Saturday, November 9 at 2 p.m.
