BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Two members of the Long Island University men's water polo team (3-1, 0-0 NWPC) received weekly honors from the Northeast Water Polo Conference on Tuesday, as junior Jack French was named NWPC Player of the Week and freshman Sebastiano Figari received NWPC Rookie of the Week honors.

French, an Honorable Mention All-NWPC selection last fall, tallied 14 goals with five assists, four steals, two drawn exclusions, and one block in LIU's four-game set at the Bruno Classic in Providence, Rhode Island last weekend.

The Brisbane, Australia native led the Sharks with five goals in their season-opening win over Wagner College, marking the program's first win both over the Seahawks and in a season opener. This is French's third NWPC Player of the Week award, having received two in 2025.

Figari began his collegiate career in strong fashion, scoring 16 goals with three assists, five steals, and 10 drawn exclusions in LIU's four-game weekend. The Genova, Italy native led LIU in goals in its win over Connecticut College (four), and in its matchup against Air Force (seven).

LIU returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 5, when it takes on George Washington University at 11 a.m. and Chapman University at 5 p.m. at the Navy Open in Annapolis, Maryland.
