BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - Redshirt senior goalie
Skyler Fig of the Long Island University women's lacrosse team was named NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. The weekly honor is Fig's first defensive player of the week nod of her career. She is the first LIU women's lacrosse player to win a weekly award from the NEC this season.
This past Sunday vs. Le Moyne College, Fig earned the win in net making seven saves with a .500 save percentage and two ground balls, as the Sharks downed the Dolphins 10-7 to move into a tie for first place in the NEC standings.

Julia Trainor also received NEC Prime Performer recognition for her performance in Sunday's win. Trainor scored three goals with one assist, recording her seventh hat trick of the season and fourth in a row.
LIU returns to action on Saturday at Stonehill College in a matchup between two of the three teams tied for first place. Opening draw is scheduled for 12 p.m. The Sharks enter Saturday's game riding a four-game winning streak.
