Cameron Connolly of the Long Island University men's lacrosse team was named NEC Player of the Week and redshirt sophomore goalie
Tyler Gresh was named NEC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. This past weekend the duo led LIU to a season-opening 14-12 win over Mount Saint Mary's College.
Connolly and Gresh also received NEC Prime Performer recognition in addition to junior midfielder
Aidan Zuhoski.
In Friday's win, Connolly totaled four points on two goals and two assists. He added two groundballs and one caused turnover, picking up the first NEC weekly award of his career.
Gresh made 16 saves and finished with a .571 save percentage versus Mount Saint Mary's. The defensive player of the week nod is the second of his career.
Zuhoski tallied four points from two goals and two assists.
The Sharks (1-0) return to action on Saturday versus Monmouth University. Opening faceoff at Shark Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
