BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU women's lacrosse team earned 11 major Northeast Conference (NEC) awards after capping a 10-win regular season ahead of the upcoming NEC Tournament.
Graduate student
Ava Burns, from Miller Place, N.Y., was named NEC Defensive Player of the Year. Burns appeared in 14 games for the Sharks, starting all of them, and recorded 27 groundballs and 13 caused turnovers.
Julia Trainor, a junior from Billerica, Mass., was named NEC Midfielder of the Year. She led LIU with a team-high 30 goals and added 14 assists, finishing with 44 points. Trainor also tallied three game-winning goals, 46 groundballs, 22 caused turnovers, and 68 draw controls while starting all 16 games in the regular season.
Senior
Mylie Norton, from Edgewater, Md., earned NEC Goalkeeper of the Year honors after winning a career-high nine games. Norton posted a .470 save percentage, recorded 118 saves, and played 872 minutes in net.

Meghan Els and Brianna Lamoureux—were named NEC Coaching Staff of the Year for the second consecutive season. The trio led LIU to a share of the NEC regular season title.
