EDISON, N.J. - Senior Sydney deVroedt of the Long Island University women's water polo team was named Offensive Player of the Week by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Wednesday. 

"We are thrilled to celebrate Sydney being named Offensive Player of the Week!" LIU women's water polo Head Coach Morgan Allison said. "This incredible honor is a testament to her dedication, leadership and work ethic in the pool. With over 100 goals this season, she continues to set the bar high." 

deVroedt totaled seven goals in LIU's 24-10 win over Virginia Military Institute on Saturday, seven goals in a 12-10 win over Villanova University on Saturday and four goals in Sunday's matchup at Wagner College, leading the Sharks in all three games.  

The Hollywood, Florida native continues to lead the Sharks in goals scored this season, finishing the regular season with 132 goals across LIU's 29 games.  

deVroedt and the Sharks are a No. 2 seed in the MAAC Water Polo Championship tournament, taking on No. 3 seed Mount St. Mary's at 3 p.m. on April 25 in Poughkeepsie, New York.
