BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Ryan Fountain has been named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week and
Tyler Gresh has been named the Rookie of the Week after helping lead the LIU men's lacrosse team to a 15-7 win over Cleveland State on Saturday.
Fountain scooped up a game-high six ground balls and caused four turnovers to push LIU to its eighth win of the season. He also assisted on
Luke Harris' third-quarter goal to give the Sharks an 8-2 lead.
Gresh, a redshirt freshman, earned his first collegiate win this past weekend after a 14-save performance for the Sharks. The goalkeeper also collected six ground balls.
Fountain and Gresh were also named NEC Prime Performers along with teammate
Ben McIsaac, who scored four goals and added an assist in LIU's weekend win over Cleveland State.
LIU improved to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in NEC play. The Sharks return to action on Saturday, hosting Le Moyne for Senior Day at 2 p.m.
