BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Shadrak Lasu has been named NEC Rookie of the Week after giving LIU a boost with some special defensive prowess. This is his second Rookie of the Week honor of the campaign.
The freshman's week began by leading his team with 9 rebounds, to go along with 6 points as LIU faced off against CCSU during Shark Weekend in Brooklyn on Jan. 30. He followed that performance up by leading the Sharks in several categories against Chicago State on Feb. 1, grabbing 8 rebounds, 1 steal, and swatting a season-high 5 blocks as the two teams faced off in an overtime matchup.
Lasu concluded the week averaging 5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 1 steal for the Sharks, ensuring he made quite the impact with his versatility.
The big man is currently leading the NEC with 7.1 rebounds this season, and is ranked second in blocks with 1.1 per game.
LIU will return to the court on Thursday, February 6, visiting Wagner at 7 p.m.
